Fun, Fitness, and a Fine Charitable Cause: Save the Date!

Most of us have a Cause near to our hearts and we do what we can to support it. Usually that means putting money in an envelope or training for a marathon, but the charity we're introducing you to today is really putting the "fun" back into fundraising.

The SickKids Foundation raises funds on behalf of The Hospital for Sick Children, a pediatric health science centre for patient care and medical research in Toronto (Ontario, Canada). Their signature fundraising event is coming up on September 28, 2013 in Toronto - The Canaccord Genuity Great Camp Adventure benefiting SickKids!

This is an action-packed day of camp-themed activities, like roasting s'mores, a talent show, crafts, and more hosted at "campsites" spaced along a 20-km adventure walk (details in a future post - stay tuned). Whether you complete the entire 20-km trek or just a portion of it is up to you, and the route is designed with full accessibility for strollers and wheelchairs. There's even shuttle service if you need a ride during the walk. And with all the calories you're burning on that walk, you can treat yourself to an extra s'more or two, no?

Sound like fun? Here's even better news: 100% of donations will go to the SickKids Possibilities Fund (which provides for the hospital's most urgent needs). So go ahead, enlist a few friends or family members and sign up your team right here. You can ask others to financially support your team or volunteer their time at one of the campsites, too. Swimmer's Itch and having a crush on the archery instructor not included.

A team from ChickAdvisor will be there. Can we count you in, too?

My husband has worked at this hospital installing MRI's into the building. They do great work with the kids in more ways then just helping them to get back to their homes healthy again. They make them feel so much more comfortable then a normal hospital can. I'd be there with you guy's, but its to far away for me to make the trip. Hopefully our donations help out even if its just a little bit.
