Bissell has amazing customer service. My first vacuum was great. I have dogs & I have long hair, so the brush would need to be cleaned frequently, that's a down fall, but vacuum works amazing for daily use. You'd still need to vacuum weekly tho. I had some issues with it & Bissell sent me a new one....wonderful service.

We have 3 parrots and 2 short haired “anti” shedding dogs (who in turn shed, especially while playing!). Along with life’s normal hustle and bustle, recent exterior DIY renovations, and lack of time, it is difficult to even just have the time to sweep, let alone vacuum. Hence, the introduction of the Bissell Smart Clean into our household.

We currently have a Dyson, so have high expectations for any cleaning device within our home.

This vacuum is something pretty amazing. I’m in love.

Assembly is simple – lithium batteries (included), two sweeping brushes, and the dirt bin.

I was sad after assembly, as before its first use, you have to plug the charging cord directly into the vacuum (while it is powered on) for 4-5 hours.

In the meantime, I set up its home port upstairs in the guest room where there is ample room for it to hook itself up when it runs out of time or power, and set up the invisible wall (which requires 4 AA batteries) in front of a metal lizard candle holder on the floor that falls down if you breathe on it.

The first time I tried her out, I just pressed main mode button once, which means it would do all the patterns (zig zag, perimeter, circles, etc.) and dock itself once she was done. She ran for almost 2 hours before running out of steam - redocking to recharge without any issues.

The dogs kind of went crazy the first half hour barking at it, and eventually calmed down to ignoring it, but we will definitely ONLY use it while we are in the home, for fear of them pouncing on it. It *is* pretty durable, but an 80lb dog pounce would probably neither be covered by the 1 year warranty nor be repairable.

There are a number of settings – whether it be manual cleaning time, scheduling cleaning times, and cleaning mode (perimeter, circles, zip zag, etc.).

For me, this is SUCH a time saver. Last night we were tidying up as we had contractors over today, and I didn’t have to clean the floors. I set up the vacuum on the main level right after work for an hour, then upstairs for another 45 to 60 minutes. I was able to tidy without worrying about the floors – I love it!

Each floor does take up enough bits and bobs that warrants the debris canister to be emptied out after each floor has been completed – it’s easy (once the power is off) with a push of the lid, pick up the canister, and dump in the garbage. Even the rolling brush underneath can be taken off and installed in seconds to get rid of any strings, hair, or other bits that get caught in it during the vacuums adventures. The filter also is easy to brush off – I use a lint brush, and it’s pretty quick. You can also just use your fingers.

It does avoid stairs, and you can easily press the mode button while it is working in order to safely pick it up and move it to a different floor or out of a room whose door you forgot to close.

Throw rugs and any larger pieces of debris (i.e. ripped cardboard, shredded newspapers, larger bird toy parts) do have to be picked up by you prior to turning the vacuum on, as it doesn’t really like them. Especially flimsy rugs. But even the Dyson requires me to stand on both sides of our flimsy throw rugs while vacuuming, so that doesn’t bug me too much.

As it is round, it does miss the 90 degree angles, and you can see some dust lines along the perimeter if you don’t choose the perimeter mode only.

There are replacement filters and brushes that aren’t too pricey, so overall maintenance should be relatively inexpensive in comparison with the efficient and time saving job it does.

Overall, I am over the moon, and am happy to be able to fill my floor cleaning time with more meaningful tasks!
