    So cute.

My daughter really liked it when she got it. It was exciting to see the egg hatch and reveal the cute hatchimal baby. She got the pinkish one and it comes with accessories.

My daughter's favorite toy this Christmas

My 4 year old asked for a Hatchimal for over a year, but I just couldn't justify spending around $60 on a toy she might barely play with. A Hatchibabies Hatchimal was the one thing she asked Santa for this year so I just had to get it for her. I'm so glad I did! I even scores one on sale for around $40. It took about an hour until hers hatched. I was expecting it to hatch using it's beak, but Instead it pushed through the top. It sang happy birthday in its own language which was cute. Inside the egg are little compartments that came with accessories that you don't get with the big Hatchimals. 3 days later and my daughter still loves this toy. She feeds her and makes her a little bed then rocks her to sleep every night. If you are on the fence about getting this toy I say go for it!

Excellent product but little bit on the pricier side

This is the cutest toy I have seen.It Sings laughs when you touch the egg and is a great entertainment for kids of all ages including me ;). You need to play with the toy before you hatch. You can hatch naturally or artificially. Natural way is fun. You get to play with the egg. After the hatch the fun is gone. My kids loved hatching the egg and played sometime after that but had lost interest . Hence can feel like a more pricey item for one time play

    interesting

Our family received a Hatchimal for free through Family Rated. We were so excited we got the e-mail informing us about our new toy just a few hours prior to receiving our Hatchimal at our front door, so excited to find out if it was a boy? Or a Girl? We waited patiently (almost patiently) tapping, rubbing, and rocking our egg.... it actually taps back, too adorable! This ccontinued for about 30 minutes until the baby actually cracked the egg, it was so exciting to watch the kids watch this pink fuzzy creature hatch from this speckled egg. It's a girl!! We got a girl. We're still learning new things about her, their eyes change color to their mood. The only thing I will say semi negatively about the Hatchimal is with my family having a son and daughter close in age just having one toy..... with a gender reveal concept is possibly not the best idea for us in the future but all in all this is a really cool toy and we are very thankful for being given this awesome opportunity.

    HATCHIMALS

The HATCHIMALS toy a great novelty toy. I received the HATCHIMALS toy for free, and we were super excited to play with it! That being said, my children had pretty high expectations for this HATCHIMAL. We opened the packaging, which was easy to do, and that is always a good thing. Once we opened it and started to play with the egg everything was going smoothly and it started to hatch!
So, as we waited and tried to help it hatch, it stopped working. Needless to say my children were not happy. We followed the directions for hatching it and it didn't work the way it was supposed to. We tried every trouble shooting option and nothing. I called the company, but never got an answer. We ended up having to crack the egg ourselves, which kind of took a bit of the novelty away. That being said, they enjoyed playing with the actual animal and the little toys that came with it.

    Cute toy with limited novelty

My daughter was incredibly excited to hatch and play with her very own large Hatchimal. Previously she has only experienced play with the smallee packs of surprise animals.
Upon opening, the egg was pretty straightforward. Both of my kids enjoyed looking for the various color cues and interacting as per the instructions. After a bit though, they started to lose interest. I think the anticipation of a surprise physically hatching out was the only thing that kept them around.
About 20 minutes later it finally started the hatching process...which then takes another 10-15min.
My daughter had watched a few videos and was hoping it would actually peck its way through the she'll, just like the video. That did not happen. It basically spun itself up through the top pf the egg, pushing through, but then got stuck and we had to break through the rest of the egg.
Once it was hatched, both my daughter and son took turns playing with it for about 15-20min each, then I found it left in a corner in the living room, totally forgotten. That was a week ago. Since then, I've seen each of them play with it maybe twice.

Pros: Exciting "surprise", cute toy inside, interactive both with limited games and doll-like accessories. Both my 3 year old and 7 year old enjoyed it.

Cons: Do not start the hatching process unless you have a good hour to dedicate. It can take 15min to even START to hatch. Some of the interactive games are sensitive and difficult for younger kids to follow along. Not for families that don't like noisy toys.

Keeps them busy, for a couple of hours

My 2 girls (ages 3 and 6) were beyond excited to get the Hatchimal. They carried it around, loved on it and played with it until it hatched. Then they carried it around for a while longer feeding it and playing with the little accessories. By the 24 hour mark, though, they were about over it. It now sits on their dresser untouched.
The quality is great and we all love the addition of the accessories but that only adds an hour or two of play time over the original. I, unfortunately, still feel like this is a temporary toy. Once the hatching is over the appeal still pretty much wears off.

My son named his Harmony :)

I was excited when my family received this, but I had never considered buying one for my kids. I remembered a couple of years ago when they were the Christmas toy no one could keep in stock and then I remember that there a lot of complaints about defects. That being said, my kids were DELIGHTED to play with this.
We opened up the box and got out the colorful egg, removed the keys from the bottom and it came to life, wiggling and cooing. My five year old son *immediately* went into daddy mode and started nurturing the heck out of it, hugging it and snuggling it, kissing it and singing to it. That alone was worth the purchase of this toy. If you have kids that love to take care of things and are good at being sweet and gentle, this little toy will provide some pretty cute moments right off the bat.
He then put the egg to sleep and we ended up having to do some trouble shooting to get it to turn back on. Luckily- with the power of YouTube on my side, we figured out how to restart it. By putting one of the original locks from the bottom of the egg back in and wiggling it around, we got it to wake back up and then it was getting all rainbow-eyed and ready to hatch.
The hatching is pretty funny, you can hear a little motor whirring inside the egg, shoving the baby up through the pre-scored "cracks." My son was overjoyed and my two year old daughter started to get excited too. We broke him free of the remaining eggshell and found that we had a Hatchiboy!
In the eggs are little compartments with a brush (my daughter's favorite item), a bottle, a rattle and a little plastic animal buddy. The Hatchibaby responds to these items in different ways, depending on its needs at the time, which you can tell from eye color. Purple eyes mean the baby is hungry, so you jam the tiny bottle in its little beak until its eyes turn yellow and then you get to burp it, which is obviously a riot for little kids. If its eyes turn blue it's sad, but can be cheered up easily with hugs or its little snuggle animal toy. The rattle prompts it to sing and dance and the brush is just for fussing over it. There are also little games you can play with it, which are totally lost on my two year old, but perfect for my five year old who loves responding to the babies needs accordingly.
I waited to write this for a couple of days, because I think that how long your kids play with something counts a lot for its value. In this case, my kids have fought over who gets to hold it in the car two mornings in a row, and it's been picked up and coddled several times throughout the day as well.
As far as drawbacks go, there's only a couple of things I can think of. By some miracle we haven't lost any of its accessories yet, but it's only a matter of time. The egg base itself is supposed to be a place where you can sit the baby, but it's completely unstable and would only end up knocking over a glass of milk or something if I let them use it. Other than those two qualms and the troubleshooting we had to do on the egg, it's been a great toy! If they keep playing with it over the next couple of weeks I might have to get another one for them for Christmas.
