This was not the product for me.
I had been searching for an alternative to pads, as I developed an allergic reaction to my regular brand when they made their product "more absorbent." I had been thinking about a menstrual cup for some time, so when I developed an allergy I decided to give it a try.

I found the cup very difficult to insert, I followed all the instructions, tried different folding techniques and finally got it in. But I found it very uncomfortable. I tried it several times, with different flows and it just never was a better experience than using pads, even with an allergic reaction!

I started looking to see if other women had the same issues I was having and it appears the Diva Cup is thicker than some other menstrual cups. Unfortunately, the other brands are not available in my area, so my struggle continues.

This might be perfect for other bodies, but the lack of flexibility in the cup design, just does not work for me.

I had high hopes for this as anything to take away from changing every few hours and the concern of sleeping is always a plus. It's so difficult omg. This has to be done in the shower obviously bc you'll end up with a murder scene lol and I'm not even heavy my period I mean lol. It just hurt cos I have nails which I cut bc nope. Just use at your own risk man.

I'm sure for some women, the DivaCup is the best invention ever. But for some others like me, it's not. It was painful when using it, i've try 3 months in a row and no, always painful.

so this is my personal opinion..
I think that the divacup is an amazing idea as a product. it's great for the environment, it's super cheap (in the long run), it's easy to clean and store, takes up very little room (except for in your vagina)

okay, so, here's how I really feel..

It is very painful for me! I can never get it in the right position, it hurts when I put it in or take it out, I can never clean it properly and it takes FOREVER if by some miracle I do get it right

While I recommend this product for many reasons, your health and the environment being the main ones, I also know that periods are confusing and you don't always bleed the same month to month and that sometimes a tampon will forever be superior on those really bad days.

I like to use my DIvaCup at the beginning of my period and end, sometimes I can make it through the whole period but I've had to use linings on occasion. It won't be perfect the first time you use it, and maybe not even the second. You'll probably want #2 even if you haven't had kids but are on the heavy flow side of things. I have #1 and I leaked constantly the first time I used it, I couldn't empty the thing fast enough in the 15mins between each time it filled up. It's not convenient in public places as it's a bit messy to deal with, more so than OB. Just be aware the first time use is a learning experience and even if the package says 12hours leak free protection it might not account for your flow that day.

It does what is says, but not very convenient when it needs to be emptied, a wider tip would help with the grip.

Like the last reviewer, I bought the DivaCup because I loved the idea of it. I loved the cost savings overall (I shudder to think how much I spend on panty liners, tampons and pads in a year), the environmentally friendly aspect of it, and just an alternative to pads and tampons. I just could not get the hang of it for the life of me. I had read a whole lot from other Diva users prior to purchase, so I thought I could do it, but I just kept getting leakage. I adjusted it and tried doing it differently, and leaked everytime. Perhaps it was because I have endometriosis and before my IUD and surgery, I had an incredibly heavy menstrual cycle. Maybe I was too much for the cup. Or maybe the Cup is not made for every shape? Or it could have just been me, but it seems it is not that user friendly if I am not the only one who struggled?

The idea of this is really great, especially that it's enviromentally-friendly and definitely saves money!
I, personally, though didn't find it a great experience...

    1. It's very very messy! Taking it out can result in it splashing, spilling, or getting on your hands/everywhere!
    2. The stem. I cut mine to almost nothing, but I can still feel it stabbing the inside of me.
    3. It's too big. I wish it would come in a smaller size because it ends up making you feeling very stretched out once you take it out.
    4. A lot of the time it doesn't fully open when inserted, but at a random time throughout the day (after leaking) it can pop open which is really painful!

I don't know if it's just the shape/angle of my body that it doesn't work as well with, but I know people that the Diva cup has worked for great! And I do love the idea of it, I really wish I could use it more often! I definitely think it's worth a try! (Sorry for the mixed opinions, but it's exactly how i feel!)

This product is very compicated to first time users and may be uncomfortable as well.It can't be sanitary..can you imagine...you are in a public bathroom, you have to clean the cup...how on earth do you clean in a public bathroom and you can't very well clean it in the sink....very very unsanitary and not effective for what it is.
