Needs work

I found voila extremely disappointing to use as their was lack of options in products, price points were high and I struggled to fulfill the required amount. I definitely felt I didn’t save money or feel like it was convenient and it left a sour taste. Product was fresh and on time for delivery.

Voila by Sobeys

So glad that Sobeys is finally delivering and fresh produce from the warehouse. Was so happy to be selected to try the service. I love to shop Sobeys and have 3 close to me. Unfortunately with Voila by Sobeys I was only available to receive The delivery through the promotional period on Sundays and they do not deliver on Sundays according to the schedule for my area. So unfortunate because I was looking forward to try the service. When my schedule frees up, I may try to use the service in the future

Satisfactory Service

I had heard about the new Voila by Sobey's and was thinking about giving it a try. When I saw the promotion through chick advisor for a $25 gift card on a $100 order if I placed a review I thought it was the perfect opportunity to try it out.
The registration process was easy and the site was simple to navigate. I was also able to find next day delivery at a time that worked for me. I was pleased to see that there were items on special that I could stock up on and even some free promotional items ( Compliments Orange juice). Also being vegan I really liked that they had a section to easily find plant based items. Unfortunately, I found that many of my usual produce items were not available which was very disappointing. It left me still needing to source those items from elsewhere which makes the entire point of home delivery a bit useless, which is why I would only give the service a 3 star rating. The delivery was on time and very efficient. I was also a bit disappointed that I could not collect Air Miles as I would if I shopped at my local Sobey's. Overall, I was satisfied but I think Sobey's can still do some work to improve the service especially when it comes to selection of items.

Not bad

This was the first time I’ve used this service offered by sobeys and i find the overall service as okay. Of course it is never the same actually choosing your own products compared to someone else preparing the products for you to be delivered. But overall it’s okay

Didn't come on time

Groceries were delivered late and not in great condition (some vegetables beyond bruised or about to go bad, etc). Some of the meat was also off and we had to throw it out

Although the service is good I found the delivery fee to be high for me especially when there are so many other online options available to me. sobeys pricing tends to be higher too so this is an expensive Overall program.

Convenient service

I normally don't do my groceries at Sobeys because it's expensive than other stores. Because I used the Voila delivery service there was some cost benefit to it. For $100 I saved $25. The service itself was convenient and on time. During this unprecedented time it was safe to get the groceries to our door.

Quick & Convenient, but High Delivery Fee

I just tried Voila grocery delivery service for the first time and overall I'm unfortunately not super impressed.
The website itself is easy to use, however I did run into a few issues. Firstly, once I made up my order and went to checkout, 1/4 of the items I added were not in stock and so they were removed from my cart. Other grocery delivery service websites will usually suggest alternatives (such as a different brand of the same product in a similar price range). Voila did not offer any substitutions. Secondly, after I had placed the order it gives you the option to add/change your order up until the evening before delivery. I actually made use of this as there were a few items I forgot to add originally. I triple-checked that my additional items were added to my order, however once I received a shipping notification email the morning I was to receive my delivery, it was for the original order without all the extra items I added. So now I have to make a trip to the grocery store that I was trying to avoid. Finally, upon delivery they used a large amount of plastic grocery bags (way more than necessary). I try to avoid using plastic bags (and will reuse them if I do have them), however a suggestion may be to switch to paper bags or even just add more items to each bag to cut down on the amount used. The delivery fee is also much higher than similar grocery delivery services ($7.99 CAD)
Other than these issues, the order process was simple and the food appears fresh. I like that the order windows are only an hour, so you have a very good idea of when to expect your groceries. Mine arrived exactly at the beginning of the hour I selected and I received a phone call from the driver prior to arrival.

Good in theory

While the products received were packaged cleanly, a lot of the fresh produce was unavailable for purchase each of the times I logged on to order. I also found the system of organization for online shopping to be difficult to navigate. I also wish that there were alternate payment options to credit card, which is often my barrier to use. I prefer to use direct debit or PayPal so that the funds are withdrawn from my banking account. Finally, as Frescho is my normal shopping destination, I was disappointed to see such a large disparity in price for the same products, more expensive on the app than in store. With the 8 dollar delivery fee it would be great to have a virtual shopping opportunity that doesn't further penalize the user

Pricing is not competitive and selection is poor

I've been using online services to order groceries for the last 2 years so this is not a new process to me. I typically use it to order heavier/bulk items (like quinoa, cereal, etc.) and pantry/dry goods (like chicken broth, nuts, etc.) since these are the items that are the worst to carry when you live in a condo with no car. Since I live in an extremely accessible area for grocery shopping - I have 3 within a 10 min walking distance, I prefer to get my fresh foods in person. It also gives me a chance to check out the sales.

I found it very hard to build a cart over $100 with Voila for Sobeys between their poor selection and average prices. The selection is extremely generic and I can typically buy something cheaper elsewhere. The $7.99 delivery fee is a bit steep as well. I believe Instacart only charges $3.99 AND they have a wider selection since they partner with many stores. I find it hard to shop for fresh food also because of the expiry dates & inability to see the quality myself. With Instacart, I have the ability to make notes like "please pick raw bananas".

I received a discount voucher in exchange for an honest review. I did not finalize my purchase since I found it really hard to built a cart with $100 worth of groceries (it's a lot for a single person and I prefer to diversify my purchases such as at farmer's markets to support local or other grocery stores with wider selections)
